The Catholic Women’s League of Canada (hereinafter referred to as CWL) was organized nationally on June 17, 1920 and granted federal incorporation on December 12, 1923.  The CWL is officially recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a lay association of women and is affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations.

The CWL is the largest national organization of Catholic women working together to contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony.

Mission Statement:

The Catholic Women's League of Canada calls its members to grow in faith, and to witness to the love of God through ministry and service.

Who We Are:

St. John the Evangelist CWL Council was organized on November 5, 1939. Our Council:

  • Offers hospitality, friendship, sisterhood, support and affirmation that empowers women to reach their full potential.
  • Provides faith-based opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development and many avenues for service, advocacy and social justice.
  • Convenes general meetings on the third Thursday of each month, from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
